2023 Edmonton celebrates a summer of PRIDE!
The Edmonton PrideFest Association is announcing that the city of Edmonton will be joining a growing list of municipalities such as Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, Ottawa, and Halifax that celebrate both the international month of Pride (June) and municipal week of Pride outside the official month of June. This year, all official Edmonton Pride Festival activities will take place August 18th to Aug 26th, 2023.
The main factors taken into consideration of moving the festival to later in the summer include:
- Keeping Pride prominent and visible downtown in Churchill Square
- Minimizing disruptions due to possible inclement weather
- The importance of acknowledging and celebrating Pride all year round
In 2022 over 40 Pride events were produced by 19 organizers in 21 different venues across our city, 2023 is set to be even bigger!
Pride will kick off Edmonton’s annual festival season with Pride month (June) featuring dozens of amazing Pride events including the new Edmonton Drag Festival June 17 th, 2023.
Wrapping up Edmonton’s Pride summer is the biggest Pride festival in Alberta’s HER-story, the Edmonton Pride Festival at Churchill Square August 18th to 26th. This year’s Edmonton Pride Festival features new events including:
- 2-Spirit Powwow @Churchill Square – Thursday August 24.
